These terms cover the Plugd In app and the website plugdin.net, run by Plugd In Network LLC. By using Plugd In you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use it.
Who can use Plugd In
You must be 13 or older. If you are 13 to 17, you may only receive direct messages from people you have accepted a connection with.
One account per person. You are responsible for what happens under your account, so keep your password to yourself.
What Plugd In is
A professional network for musicians and creatives: profiles, short audio clips, a feed, discussions, direct messages, collaboration posts, and tools for recording credits and split sheets.
We are a platform, not a party to your deals. We host what you and other users write. We do not verify that any claim, credit, collaboration offer, or split sheet is accurate, and we are not your agent, manager, lawyer, publisher, or accountant.
Artificial intelligence
Plugd In does not currently use AI to generate content, rank what you see, or make automated decisions about your account. The order of your feed is set by fixed rules, not by a model trained on your behaviour, and the only automated check on what you write is a short, fixed list of slurs and phrases telling someone to kill themselves, which the app refuses to post. If that changes, we will update this section to describe exactly what the feature does before we ship it.
Your account and conduct
Follow the Community Guidelines (in the app under Settings, Community guidelines). In short: critique the work, not the person; no harassment or hate, no spam, no impersonation, no illegal content, and no uploading music you do not have the rights to.
We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these terms. For anything short of serious or repeated harm we will aim to warn you first.
Reporting and blocking
You can report a post, a discussion, or a chat with the flag icon at the top of the screen, and block anyone. Blocked people are hidden from your feed, Discover and inbox, and you can unblock them in Settings. Reports go to the Plugd In team, not to the person you report. We aim to review reports of abuse or safety concerns within 24 hours.
Our role in what you post
We do not manually review content before it is posted, and we do not vet the people who join beyond our age check. The app automatically refuses to post a short, fixed list of slurs and phrases telling someone to kill themselves, but that is a filter, not a review, and it does not mean anything that gets through has been checked or approved. As a platform hosting content other people create, we are generally not legally responsible for what a user posts; that responsibility is theirs. We can remove content or suspend accounts that violate these terms or the law, at our discretion, and we cooperate with valid legal process.
You indemnify us for claims arising from content you post or how you use Plugd In. That means if your post gets us sued (for defamation, IP infringement, or anything else), you are responsible for the costs that causes us, to the extent caused by your violation of these terms or the law.
Your content, and the licence you give us
You own your work. Full stop.
You keep all ownership of everything you upload: your recordings, your compositions, your lyrics, your photos, your writing. Uploading a clip to Plugd In does not transfer any ownership, copyright, or master rights to us. We do not take a cut of your music, we do not claim a share of your royalties, and we do not acquire any interest in your catalogue.
What we need in order to run the app
To show your clip to someone else, we technically have to copy it, transmit it, and play it. So you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to host, store, reproduce, transmit, display, and perform your content solely in order to operate and promote Plugd In, including showing it on your public press kit and in the app.
That licence is:
- Non-exclusive. You can license the same work to anyone else, anywhere, on any terms. Nothing here is exclusive to us.
- Limited to running the service. We cannot sell your music, license it to a third party, sync it to an advertisement, or put it in a compilation.
- Ended by you. Delete the content or your account and the licence ends, except that (a) copies may persist in backups until they expire, and (b) where someone else has already received something (a message they were sent, a split sheet they co-signed), it stays with them.
- Free. We do not pay you for it, and you do not pay us for it.
"Promote Plugd In" means things like featuring your clip on a Discover shelf or in-app promotion. It does not cover using your audio in our external marketing, such as an app store video, this website, or a social media ad. If we ever want to do that, we will ask you first and use it only if you say yes.
What you promise us
That you have the rights to what you upload: that it is your work, or you have permission. If you upload someone else's music, that is your liability, not ours; see the Copyright and DMCA Policy.
Trademark and other IP complaints
Our Copyright and DMCA Policy covers copyright infringement specifically, which is a separate process under US copyright law with its own designated agent (dmca@plugdin.net). For anything else (trademark infringement, someone impersonating a brand, right-of-publicity concerns, or other IP issues that are not copyright), email support@plugdin.net with what the issue is, where it appears in the app, and your contact information, and we will review it. We may remove content or restrict accounts that violate someone else's intellectual property rights, and terminate accounts that do this repeatedly.
Feedback
If you send us suggestions about the app, we can use them without owing you anything. This does not apply to your music.
Split sheets: read this one
A split sheet on Plugd In is a record of what people said they agreed to. It is not a legal contract, and we are not providing legal advice.
Split sheets are between the people who sign them. Plugd In is not a party to any split sheet, does not mediate disputes about one, and a split sheet created here does not register anything with a performing rights organization, publisher, or distributor. If real money is involved, the people involved should get their own legal advice before relying on a split sheet made here.
This is the most important clause in these terms, so plainly:
- A finalized split sheet is a record, not an executed agreement. It does not by itself create, transfer, or prove ownership of any copyright or revenue share.
- We do not verify anything on it: not the percentages, not the names, not the PRO or IPI numbers, not whether the people listed actually wrote the song, and not whether anyone had authority to agree.
- Signing is electronic, and only with your consent. Before you sign your first split sheet, we ask you to consent to signing electronically, and you can withdraw that consent in Settings. With it, typing your name is your electronic signature on the record. That shows you adopted the record. It does not turn a split sheet into a legal contract, and we do not promise that a PRO, publisher, label, or court will accept it.
- Changing a sheet resets agreement. If the shares, names, roles, PRO or publisher details, title, or notes on an unfinalized sheet change after people have agreed, every agreement on it is cleared and everyone signs again. A finalized sheet therefore always shows numbers each person actually agreed to.
- It does not register anything. It does not notify your PRO, your publisher, a distributor, or any collection society. Registering your splits is still your job.
- If money is involved, get a lawyer. For real releases you want a properly executed agreement drafted for your situation. Use ours to remember what was agreed in the room, not to replace legal paperwork.
- Disputes between contributors are between them. We will not arbitrate, decide, or take sides in a disagreement about splits, and we are not liable for any loss arising from a split sheet, including one that is inaccurate, incomplete, disputed, or relied upon.
- Exports (the PDF) carry the same status: a record, not a contract.
If you add someone who is not on Plugd In, you confirm you had their permission to enter their name and email.
Credits and verification
A "confirmed" credit means a person you named pressed confirm. That is all it means. We do not independently verify credits, and a confirmation is not our endorsement that the work happened as described. A link you attach to a credit shows the work exists; it does not prove you made it, and the app says so.
Other people's content
Anything you see from another user is theirs, not ours, and we do not endorse it. Collaboration offers, rates, and opportunities posted by users are between you and them. Do your own due diligence before sending anyone money or work.
Plugd In Plus subscription (where offered)
Plugd In Plus is an optional, auto-renewing monthly subscription. It is not offered in every version of the app. Where it is offered, it is sold and billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play, never directly by us. Before you subscribe, the App Store or Google Play purchase screen shows you the price in your currency, the billing period, that it renews automatically unless cancelled, and the terms of any free trial. By subscribing, you agree those terms apply.
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel first. On Apple devices, cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends to avoid being charged for the next one; on Google Play, cancel any time before it renews. If you start a free trial, you will be charged when it ends unless you cancel before then. If the price ever goes up, Apple or Google will tell you before the new price applies and, where their rules or the law require it, ask you to agree first.
We do not process your payment or store your card details; Apple or Google does, under their own terms. To cancel, manage your subscription in your Apple ID or Google Account subscription settings, not in Plugd In and not by emailing us: we cannot cancel it for you, the same way we cannot charge you directly. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep Plus until the end of the period you already paid for, and it does not refund that period. Refunds for store purchases are handled by Apple or Google under their own refund policies; we do not issue them ourselves and cannot guarantee them.
What Plus is, and is not. Plugd In stays usable without Plus: posting, discovery (including newcomer discovery), messaging, opportunities, split sheets, credits, and your press kit are not part of it. Plus adds insights and tools, like your written Brief, who viewed your profile, deeper analytics, saved opportunity searches, and press-kit and listing insights, and lets you put one post at a time into a capped, labelled boost rotation. Boosting never guarantees views, followers, plays, or any other result, and the feed keeps spots that money cannot fill. Insights describe activity on Plugd In; they are not professional, financial, or career advice. We may improve or change what is included; if we remove something significant from Plus, we will tell you in the app before your next renewal.
When Plus ends, your content and history are not deleted. Plus features stop (saved searches stop alerting, a boosted post leaves the rotation, and opportunity listings stop extending automatically; listings you already posted stay open until their current end date), and they return if you subscribe again.
If we ever add a way to subscribe directly, outside app store billing, we will show the price, billing frequency, auto-renewal, and how to cancel before you pay, get your explicit consent before charging you, and make cancelling at least as easy as signing up.
Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time in Settings, Delete account. It is immediate and permanent. If you cannot open the app, use the request form on our Delete your account page. What is deleted, and what stays without being linked to your account, is set out in the Privacy Policy.
We can suspend or terminate an account that breaks these terms, creates legal risk, or harms other users. Where we reasonably can, we will tell you why and give you a chance to respond, except where doing so would risk harm to someone.
Availability
Plugd In and this website are provided "as is." We do not promise they will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that anything will be permanently preserved. Keep your own copies of your music. We are a place to show your work, not a backup service.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Plugd In Network LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue, lost opportunities, or lost or corrupted content.
Our total liability for any claim relating to Plugd In is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid for Plugd In, including Plugd In Plus fees paid through the App Store or Google Play, in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) USD 100.
Some places do not allow these limits, in which case they apply only as far as the law permits, and nothing here limits liability for death, personal injury, or fraud.
Disputes
Talk to us first. Email support@plugdin.net and give us 30 days to sort it out informally. Most things end here.
Governing law. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
Courts. Disputes not resolved informally go to the courts of the State of Georgia, and you and we consent to that jurisdiction.
No arbitration. Disputes are resolved in court as described above. These terms do not require arbitration.
Your consumer rights. If you live in the EU, UK, or another place with mandatory consumer protections, nothing here removes rights you have by law, including the right to bring a claim in your local courts.
Changes
We may update these terms. We post the new version here with a new effective date, and if a change materially affects you we will notify you in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Plugd In after that means you accept the new terms.
