Plugd In is built for musicians, and that only works if people's rights are respected. We respond to valid copyright complaints and we terminate repeat infringers.
If someone posted your work
Send a notice to our designated agent with all six of the following. US copyright law requires every one of them, and a notice missing any is not valid.
- Your physical or electronic signature (typing your full name counts).
- What was infringed: identify the copyrighted work. If several works, a representative list is fine.
- Where it is on Plugd In: the profile handle plus a link or description specific enough for us to find it. "There's stolen music on your app" is not enough for us to act on.
- How to reach you: address, phone number, and email.
- This statement: "I have a good faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law."
- This statement: "I swear, under penalty of perjury, that the information in this notification is accurate and that I am the copyright owner, or am authorized to act on behalf of the owner, of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed."

Misrepresentation has consequences. Under 17 U.S.C. 512(f), knowingly misrepresenting that material is infringing can make you liable for damages, including costs and legal fees. Please be sure before you send.
What we do when we receive one
- Review promptly and remove or disable access to the material if the notice is valid.
- Tell the person who posted it, and send them a copy of the notice.
- Explain their right to counter-notify (below).
- Record it against their account for the repeat-infringer policy.
We aim to act on a valid notice within 24 hours, the same commitment we make for all reports.
If your content was removed by mistake
You can file a counter-notification. Send our agent:
- Your signature.
- What was removed and where it used to be.
- This statement: "I swear, under penalty of perjury, that I have a good faith belief that the material was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification."
- Your name, address, and phone number, plus: "I consent to the jurisdiction of the Federal District Court for the judicial district in which my address is located (or, if my address is outside the United States, the judicial district in which Plugd In Network LLC may be found), and I will accept service of process from the person who provided the original notification or their agent."
If we receive a valid counter-notice we forward it to the complainant. If they do not tell us within 10 to 14 business days that they have filed a court action, we may restore the material.
Repeat infringers
We terminate the accounts of repeat infringers. In practice, an account with three upheld copyright complaints is terminated. We may also terminate immediately for egregious or clearly deliberate infringement, such as uploading a commercial release as your own.
A note for musicians
Two things that trip people up, and neither is legal advice:
- A cover, remix, or beat using someone else's sample is still their copyright. Posting a short clip of it here does not change that.
- Being credited on a track is not the same as owning it. If you are not sure whether you can post something, ask the other rights holders first. It is a much shorter conversation than a takedown.
Trademark and other complaints
For impersonation, trademark, or other intellectual property issues that are not copyright, email support@plugdin.net with the details and we will look into it. Please do not send those to the copyright agent address above; it is reserved for copyright notices.
